Solution providers may have occasional challenges in moving customers to focus on the benefits of sustainable IT, but Schneider Electric is offering an opportunity to have K-12 education customers working themselves to get straight As in the subject.

The K-12 education market continues its steady growth. According to data firm Market.US, the segment globally is growing at about 12.5 percent per year.

Schneider Electric sponsors the K-12 Makeover Contest, offering schools the chance to win a technology makeover. Schools can submit entries detailing their current technology needs and how a makeover would benefit their students.

To enter, a school need only upload a photo or video of its “messy, disorganized or chaotic server room or closet” to be entered in the contest, which gives them a chance to win a $25,000 IT equipment upgrade. The contest ends Nov. 30.

The contest aims to improve educational environments by providing upgraded technology infrastructure, enhancing learning experiences, and ensuring reliable and efficient operations. Winners can select the IT products they need for their school – or for whatever their needs are.  However, it does present a great opportunity to allocate it towards solutions to create more sustainable and efficient educational facilities, supporting Schneider Electric’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in education.

Schneider Electric offers comprehensive solutions tailored for K-12 education to enhance learning environments and operational efficiency.

EcoStruxure IT, another key offering, provides secure, remote monitoring and management of IT infrastructure, ensuring reliable network performance and minimizing downtime. Schneider Electric also offers power protection, power distribution and rack solutions to ensure safe, reliable power delivery to critical systems and technology in schools.

These solutions contribute to creating efficient and resilient educational facilities.

Consider: The contest winner in 2022 was the Brenham Independent School District (BISD) in southeastern Texas.

BISD, home to the state's first public school district, faced significant challenges due to a persistent roof leak above their data center, which led them to use makeshift solutions to protect their IT equipment from water damage. Upon winning the $25,000 prize from the APC K-12 IT Makeover Contest, BISD used the funds to purchase transportable IT equipment, APC solutions for cable management, and advanced UPS systems to protect against power failures. This allowed them to safeguard their technology infrastructure and continue providing reliable IT services for their students.

By leveraging these advanced technologies, K-12 schools can optimize their operations, reduce energy costs, and provide a safe, conducive environment for both students and staff. Schneider Electric’s comprehensive approach ensures that educational institutions can focus on their primary mission of educating students while maintaining efficient and sustainable operations.
