As downtime gets more expensive, solutions such as Ecostruxure IT Expert from Schneider Electric are a strong weapon for solution providers.
The challenge can be daunting when it comes to achieving comprehensive infrastructure visibility and proactive management in IT.
Throw sustainability goals into the mix and you’ve got yourself a potential stumbling block.
In a study published by Information Technology Intelligence Consulting, “97% of large enterprises with more than 1,000 employees say that, on average, a single hour of downtime per year costs their company over $100,000.”
It added, ”Even more significantly: four in 10 enterprises – 41 percent – indicate that hourly downtime costs their firms $1 million to over $5 million.”
We know that downtime is costly. That’s why monitoring and predictive maintenance can be a big deal in IT and why solution providers know that keeping ahead of any issues can be a key to keeping customers up and running and avoiding those costs.
Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure IT Expert provides a dashboard that shows real-time information on health of nodes on a network, including systems that keep IT up and running.
“If you really think about predictive maintenance or anticipating downtime, you really need that data,” explained Larry Hann, Schneider Electric’s Channel Field Sales North & Channel Digital Services Strategy, in a recent webinar for solution providers.
“By giving (customers) data, they can predict when failure is going to be, and they can have a strategy which enables them to actually drive (down) costs on the support model,” Hann said.
Security Upstream
A key part of the solution is software-driven, which becomes evident in the system dashboard the solution features.
“We have a piece of software, a very lightweight piece of software, that sits behind a firewall in a virtual machine... and it communicates... via SNPv1, v3, MyBusTCP, or Redfish protocol, to your critical physical infrastructure devices,” said Peter Keiver, Schneider Electric’s Commercial Software Offer Manager.
“Upstream, we have a very secure, encrypted outbound connection to the public cloud. We use Microsoft Azure, and that's where we view it from our data lake. So EcoStruxure IT Expert can be viewed from our data lake,” Keiver said. “We also have a multi-tenant version that partners can use to manage their customers directly from our portal.”
With EcoStruxure IT Expert, Schneider Electric empowers businesses to stay ahead of potential disruptions, saving costs and ensuring that their critical infrastructure is always reliable and resilient.
