Time magazine has cemented Schneider Electric’s position in sustainable IT in as dramatic of a way as one could imagine: It has named the company the most sustainable in the world, in a list of 500 companies it examined.
“It has not only set ambitious targets to reduce its own emissions — carbon neutral by 2025 — but also helps its customers reduce emissions and become more energy efficient through its sustainability business,” Time wrote.
“It has its own sustainability impact program to track its performance, and has also reduced emissions across its supply chain,” Time noted.
The magazine’s designation makes an emphatic point: Schneider Electric is now king of the hill when it comes to sustainability, and it’s working hard to bring its partners and customers to the peak of that mountain as well.
Time notes, appropriately: "Schneider Electric has set an ambitious goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2025 and net-zero emissions by 2030."
The company’s dedication to sustainability is evident in its work with solution provider partners.
The company has developed:
● A Sustainability School aimed at providing solution providers with the latest technical information, best practices, and industry standards in providing sustainable solutions to customers;
● A Green Premium label that provides an important imprimatur on products and solutions that meet high standards for sustainability;
● Hardware and software that are both designed to attain peak efficiency and drive continued sustainability within organizations of all sizes;
● A standard for its own sustainable practices that is transparent and available to solution providers and customers to examine and consider against their own practices.
Time, working with data analytics company Statista, used a rigorous, multi-stage process to identify the world's most sustainable companies for 2024, starting with more than 5,000 candidates. This comprehensive assessment considered sustainability ratings, corporate practices, and performance indicators, ultimately ranking 500 companies from 30-plus countries.
In the end, Schneider Electric stood alone at the top of the list.
Schneider Electric’s recognition by Time magazine underscores the company's leadership in sustainability. Its commitment to creating a more sustainable future is reflected in its continuous efforts to innovate and implement eco-friendly solutions.
As Peter Herwick, Schneider Electric’s CEO, put it:
“We consider the environment, society, and good governance in our decisions and daily operations. That's why we're pushing hard to make even more progress on our sustainability goals and ensure everyone contributes to creating a positive and enduring impact.”
